Full Transparency right here. I don’t like bobbleheads, never have. I don’t get why people show up HOURS before a game to get a bobblehead. On my recent trip to Milwaukee for the Braves vs Brewers games. I had gotten there earlier enough that I could explore Milwaukee before the game. I tweeted that I was in Milwaukee, and looking for this to do before the game. Someone said the Bobblehead Museum and decided to check it out since I had time to kill.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum has the largest collection of bobbleheads that spans over a dozen a different categories. One of the workers told us that this isn’t even all of their bobbleheads. They receive 100’s everyday as a donation that they havne’t given had a change to go through yet.
As soon as you walk in the door, you see nothing but bobbleheads. You are guided upstairs with all sorts of bobbleheads on either side of you. Again, I generally don’t get excited about bobbleheads, but it was interesting to see all the different types. And how bobblehead designs have changed over the years.
Visit the Museum
The National Bobblehead Museum is open 7 days a week. It’s only $5 for entry but it’s totally worth it. You can become a member to the HOF and Museum then you and a guest are free. Children under 5 are free. I think I was there for 2 hours looking at the different bobbleheads.
The HOF and Museum are located 170 S. 1st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204. They are located on the 2nd floor. The website says there is abundance of non metered parking around the area, but I had a hard time finding parking. (Also, it was my first time to Milwaukee and I was looking for the location. So take what I was say as a grain of salt.)
The Museum
The first thing at the Museum is to watch a video about the museum. You don’t have to but I recommend it. I think it was only 5-10 minutes if I remember correctly. From there I started at the back of the museum and worked my way towards the front of the museum. I was amazed at how many things were bobbleheads and the genre that they were in. They had so many types of bobbleheads it was so crazy!
One of my favorite sections was the Championship area. It’s the most recent years champions for 4 major sports – NHL, MLB, NBA, and NFL.
Most if not all of the bobbleheads are donated to the museum and HOF. I didn’t get the picture but they have a part of the museum dedicated to the person who donated the most bobbleheads. I will say I’m kinda upset they didn’t have a bobblehead I was looking for – Chipper and Freddie Freeman on a 4-wheeler.
Bobblehead Museum
If you are looking for something to do in Milwaukee that is cheap and unique. I would highly recommend going to the Bobble HOF and Museum. I am not a person who normally gets excited for these but it was cool to see. They really do have a bobblehead section for everyone.
