One of my goals this year is to find systems that work for me to accomplish the goals I have set for myself. I am really hard on myself and set unrealistic expectations on myself. (Sometimes I don’t even realize what I am doing.) I’m trying to find a routine that is flexible where I don’t feel like I’m in a rigid plan. I still want to have a consistent routine.
The first thing I had to figure out was what programs I wanted to use. I felt like I had the same information in a million different places. It felt like I was writing it down AND putting it into my task manager. Also using these apps has helped create a transition in mind that it’s time to work on the next project. For example, every time I open the notion I’m programming my brain to know I am working on my blog and social media.
Here are the 5 apps that I use every day:
I use Google for everything. I have so many Google emails and save almost everything to Google Drive. Google Maps is starting to become more used because I just discovered you can share on Google Maps. This is going to make traveling a whole lot easier. Sheets are used for my itineraries and tracking. Even my Google Drive was starting to look disorganized, but I spend an afternoon going through each email. I even deleted some emails that I haven’t used in a while.
Dropbox
I love Dropbox. It has made organizing my photos so easy. Trips are also easier because, at the end of each day, I make sure all the photos I take are uploaded. Then when I get home I will put the pictures into different folders so I can find for later. Depending on the plan, you can have the same account on different devices. Dropbox saves documents too, which I just started doing. After all, I had to restart my iPad several times because I forgot my password. Even as I am writing this, I am learning all the things you can do with Dropbox.
If you use this link you will get an extra 500MB when you download the Dropbox desktop app.
Balance
I have been using Balance for years. At first I used it for the rain sounds at night. I have started but never finished a whole plan. The thing that I really love about Balance is you have control of the coach – either Ofosu or Leah. I usually go with Ofosu but I like them both. You can also control the time which ranges from 3 minutes to 10 minutes. There are also plans for everything work stress, embrace change, relaxation, etc.
If you use this link you can try Balance for one year free.
Notion
This is another app that I use for everything. I was introduced to Notion through another blogger. She gave away a content planner which I still use to plan my blog posts. I write my blog posts in notion then transfer to WordPress, edit, add pictures, and publish. I love that I can use it on my laptop, iPad, and phone. I have recently purchased a planner and use that for everything. One of my goals for this year is to have everything in one spot.
Spotify
I love music. I will pretty much listen to anything. When I am writing, have learned that I have to have background noise. I love that Spotify has so many different ways to find music. You can create your own playlist, find other people’s playlist, or let Spotify create a list based on your previous music. I personally like the DJ option but I have heard from others that it plays random stuff for them. The end of the year is also fun because they put together your most played list.
